CSPS board of directors

BY CONSENT of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, the Centre for Strategic and Policy Studies (CSPS) yesterday announced the appointment of its new Board of Directors.

Ministry of Finance Permanent Secretary (Monetary) Dato Paduka Hj Mohd Roselan Hj Mohd Daud has been appointed as the deputy chairman of CSPS.

Other board members are Ministry of Development Permanent Secretary (Administration and Finance) at the Ministry of Development Hj Mohd Rozan Dato Paduka Hj Mohd Yunos, Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) Vice-Chancellor Dato Paduka Dr Hj Zulkarnain Hj Hanafi, Baiduri Bank Berhad Deputy General Manager (Operations Management Division) Andrew Young, Brunei Economic Development Board (BEDB) Deputy Chief Executive Officer Dr Hj Abd Manaf Hj Metussin, Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation Deputy Chief Executive Officer Hj Rosdi Amin Dato Paduka Hj Yaakub and Brunei Shell Petroleum Company Sdn Bhd Asset Director Hjh Rosmawatty Hj Abd Momin.

CSPS said the appointments are for a period of two years, commencing from July 1, 2011 until June 30, 2013.

New CSPS Chairman

By consent of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, the Centre for Strategic and Policy Studies, CSPS officially announced that the Permanent Secretary at Prime Minister's Office, Dato Paduka Awang Haji Ali bin Haji Apong, has been appointed as the Chairman of CSPS Board of Directors. The appointment takes effect from the 1st October 2009. The Centre for Strategic and Policy Studies was officially established on July 1st, 2006. It is a Corporate Body and is governed by the 'Centre for Strategic and Policy Studies' Act 2006, Brunei Darussalam. The Centre is governed by Chairman and Board of Directors. Members of the Board are drawn from the public and private sector organisations.

Re-appointed CSPS Board of Directors

The Prime Minister's Office, in a press release, announces that His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam has consented to the re-appointment of the Board of Directors for the Centre of Strategic and Policy Studies (CSPS) for a period of two years commencing July 1, 2009.

As of that date, the Chairman of CSPS is Tuan Haji Omar bin Haji Abd Rahman, Permanent Secretary at the Prime Minister's Office and Deputy Chairman is Dato Paduka Mohd Alimin bin Haji Abd Wahab.

Members of the Board of Directors of CSPS are Dato Paduka Haji Ali bin Haji Apong, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Finance, Dato Paduka Haji Abd Rahman bin Haji Mohiddin, Dato Paduka Malai Haji Ali bin Malai Haji Osman, Mr Stephen Ong, Fauziah bte Dato Talib and Awg Haji Salleh Bostaman bin Zainal Abidin.

Meanwhile, the Board Secretary of CSPS is Dato Paduka Dr Haji Ismail bin Haji Duraman, Executive Director of CSPS.

The press release also stated that the centre was set up as a corporate body on July 1, 2006 with the objective of the advancement and dissemination of knowledge and the promotion of research on Brunei Darussalam and on all matters pertaining to Brunei Darussalam's interests.

The centre was established under the 'Centre for Strategic and Policy Studies Order 2006'.

Centre for Strategic and Policy Studies (CSPS)

The Centre for Strategic and Policy Studies (CSPS) will be celebrating its two year anniversary in July 1st, 2008. Reproducing from its official website:

Mission: To undertake policy research and analysis on strategic issues concerning Brunei Darussalam

The Centre for Strategic and Policy Studies (CSPS) was officially established on July 1st, 2006. It is a Corporate Body and is governed by the "Centre for Strategic and Policy Studies" Order 2006, Brunei Darussalam. According to the CSPS Order 2006, under Article 83(3) Section 13 (a), it is stated that the function of the Centre shall include “the advancement and dissemination of knowledge and the promotion of research on Brunei Darussalam and on all matters appertaining to Brunei Darussalam’s interests”.

The establishment of the Centre is seen as a mechanism for inputting information to relevant stakeholders to facilitate intelligent, informed and educated decision-making. It could also play a role in monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of the current policies to make policy refinements, terminations or other policy decisions possible.
