Once again, the world (Asia, Europe & Africa) will experience an Annular Solar Eclipse this Friday 15th January, 2010. Brunei will also witness this phenomenon on that day from 3.45pm to 5.33pm, but partially.

On Wednesday 22 July 2009 a Total Eclipse will be visible from the Arabian Sea just off the west coast of India at sunrise, Nepal, Bhutan, Myanmar, China, Japanese Islands, near Kiribati and Gilbert Islands, near French Polynesia, mid-Pacific at sunset. This will be an extremely long Total Solar Eclipse - 6 minutes 39 seconds.

A Total Eclipse beginning in India will be visible on Wednesday 22 July 2009. The path of the eclipse then crosses Nepal, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Myanmar and China. From mainland Asia, the total eclipse crosses Japan's Ryukyu Islands and the Pacific Ocean. With the duration of totality reaching a maximum of 6 minutes 39 seconds this is the longest total eclipse anyone will see for over hundred years.

Major towns and cities from which to see the total eclipse are:

• Bhutan : Thimphu
• China : Changzhou, Chengdu, Chongqing, Hangzhou, Jiaxing, Nanchong, Neijiang, Ningbo, Shanghai, Suzhou, Wuhan, Wuhu, Wuxi
