The Royal Cannon


Gun salute is fired at the beginning of customary celebrations, and at specific times during the ceremonial period. The firing of the gun is a mark of respect, a kind of Royal gun-salute (Tanda Kebesaran Diraja). It would be fired for certain designated Royal Dignitaries only, either for their ownselves' or ceremonies hosted by them. The personages and the number of shots fired are fixed according to their social ranking and are as follows:

21-gun salute: His Majesty the Sultan, Her Majesty Raja Isteri, Her Royal Highness Pengiran Isteri

19-gun salute: Begawan Sultan and Suri Seri Begawan Raja

19-gun salute
: His Royal Highness Pengiran Muda Mahkota & consort


17-gun salute
: His Royal Highness Duli Pengiran Perdana Wazir & consort, Duli Wazir & consort


17-gun salute
: Their Royal Highnesses Princes and Princesses of Royal parentage


12-gun salute: Wazir other than the above
