Updates on allowances followed by His Majesty's Titah made on 15th July 2011 at Istana Nurul Iman:
1) changes to the provision of education allowance to officers and staff in the civil service especially for their children who are studying at private institutions recognised by the government, who are undertaking courses at tertiary level such as certificates, pre-diploma, diploma, higher diploma and degree. This education allowance for tertiary level is also extended to citizens and residents who are working in the private sector, who are active members of the Employees Trust Fund. This allowance will commence from January 1, 2012.

2) change on passage allowance including extending it to all female officers and staff in the civil service. This change will take into effect by January 1, 2012, and as one of the benefits that is still extended to current members of civil service, this passage allowance will continuously be reviewed from time to time subject to the ability of government resources

4) Local Scholarship for Technical and Vocational Education at Private Academic Institution Scheme specifically for ‘O’ and ‘A’ school leavers who are qualified but do not obtain the limited opportunity to study at government’s technical and vocational institutions
