I read about Intellectual Property this morning and discovered the existence of Copyright Law in Brunei. Some notable excerpts from this Emergency (Copyright) Order 1999 I would like to share:

• The owner is the person who creates the work
• Using an image on a website, handout or powerpoint presentation need permission
• A written permission must be obtained on each and every occasion and must be very explicit about what you want to do
• Downloading an image from a website for personal non-commercial study and only to make a single printout need not have permission
• Duration of copyright = Life of the author + 50 years [applies to ALL works EXCEPT typographical arrangement of published edition: 25 years]
