New fuel price

The new directive on the commercial price of fuel in Brunei has made a main headline in Malaysian papers, as it is now relatively costly to purchase fuel for vehicles and vessels not registered in Brunei:

Malaysian's diesel = RM 2.50, Brunei's diesel = RM 2.68 (B$1.13, an increase of 265%)

Malaysian's gasoline = RM 2.70, Brunei's gasonline Premium 97 = RM 2.80 (B$1.18, an increase of 123%)

These new prices, however, are better than the previous directive which restricts the daily fuel sale of B$10 petrol and B$6 diesel (effective last Oct), where travellers have problem completing their journeys with the limited fuel purchased.

This is also an effective way to curb fuel the smuggling cases and cut down the fuel subsidy by Brunei Government.
