Institutions named after His Majesty

In due recognition for His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam's contribution, the following institutions are named after His Majesty.

In conjunction with His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam's Silver Jublee of Acscending to The Throne on Monday, 9 Rabiulakhir 1413 Hijrah corresponding to 5 October 1992, His Majesty had officially conscented in the establishment of a foundation called Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah.

Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah was established with THREE major principles, namely:-

• As a channel of charitable endowment of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah and Members of His Majesty's Family;
• As a symbol of care and affection of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah towards His Majesty's subject who are always loyal and faithful to His Majesty and His Majesty's Government.
• And as a symbol of the creation and unity of the society and the nation, Brunei Darussalam which is peaceful and prosperous as well as for the harmony of peoples of all other countries according to the circumstances and their appropiateness blessed by Allah Subhanahu Wataala.

The conclusion is the principle is rooted in Faith, Charity and Benevolence. Faith is the channel, Charity is care and Benevolence is the creation of the society and harmony.

• Sekolah Menengah Arab Laki-Laki Hassanal Bolkiah (SMALHB)

Sekolah Menengah Arab Laki-Laki Hassanal Bolkiah was built on 24 September 1964 and it was completed and used on 1 March 1966.

• Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium

Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium was built to commemorate the visit of Queen Elizabeth II to Brunei Darussalam. The construction began on 29 February 1977 and took 6 years to complete.

• Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Silver Jubilee Park

This park was built by the people and citizen of Brunei Darussalam to commemorate His Majesty’s 25th anniversary ascension to the throne.

• Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah Highway

Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah Highway was officially opened on 18th August 1986.

Special exhibition and galleries

There are also galleries named after His Majesty and they hold His Majesty's private collection. Some of the permanent galleries can be found at the Brunei Museum and Darulifta Brunei Darussalam Complex.

Islamic Art Gallery
This gallery is located at the Brunei Museum, Kota Batu. The gallery depicts the collection of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam. The collection comprises a wide range of objects covering the artistic production of the various Islamic regions from the translational and early Islamic periods to the late 19th century. The object covers all aspect of religious and daily life. The gallery officiated by His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam in conjunction of His Majesty 44th birthday on 15 July 1990.

Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Islamic Exhibition Gallery
The Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Islamic Exhibition Gallery was officially opened by His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, on 28 Jamadilawal 1422, corresponding to 18 August, 2001 in conjunction with the First International Islamic Expo organised by State Mufti's Office.

Collection
This exhibition Galleries preserves various Islamic heritage collections of al-Qur'an and Quranic manuscripts, manuscripts of books, prayer beads, walking sticks and other Islamic collections all belonging to His Majesty, Paduka Seri Baginda Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam.
