It was announced on the radio and television news last Monday (21 March 2011) that the Legislative Council has been dissolved with effect from 15th March 2011. The Press Release from the Department of Councils of State reads:

Pemasyhuran Pembubaran Majlis Mesyuarat Negara [ Perkara 55 (1) ]
Dengan ini dimaklumkan kepada orang ramai bahawa Majlis Mesyuarat Negara telahpun dibubarkan mulai mengikut hari Selasa, 10 Rabiulakhir 1432H bersamaan 15 Mac 2011 mengikut Pemasyhuran Pembubaran Majlis Mesyuarat Negara di bawah Fasal (1) Perkara 55 dari Perlembagaan Negara Brunei Darussalam 1959.

The Department of the Legislative Council has informed the public that the State Legislative Council has been dissolved as from Tuesday, 10 Rabiulakhir 1432H corresponding to 15th March 2011.
In press release issued today, the Department of the Legislative Council informed that the dissolution is in accordance with the Declaration of the Dissolution of the State Legislative Council, under Clause (1) Article 55 from Brunei Darussalam Constitution 1959.
